Lowland gorilla Kouillou

Group leader in the old Gorillarium. Howletts. 5th August 2010
The handsome Kouillou is always a surprise to me. He is VERY humanised (was reared by the Aspinalls from a very young age) yet he is also a very productive breeding male.

There you go, I knew there was something a little odd about him and his behaviour!

Thanks for the knowledge Pertinax.

He sits and blows rasberries and waggles his tongue at people. He still gets excited if one of his past carers (an Aspinall family member) appears. He's like a gorilla with a foot in two camps- human and gorilla!

Yeah I did notice this behaviour but thought both HR and PR gorillas did it? Or is that not the case?

He currently has a 5 month old in his group and if am right there is at least one more on the way! :D

Parent- reared Gorillas don't normally pick up funny mannerisms in their youth, or relate to people so closely(sometimes not at all) when they are adult.
