Ratel Howletts Zoo 31 May 1997

Ratel (Mellivora capensis), a very impressive carnivore
Roar. It's been a while since it was broadcast and even longer since it was filmed, so things are likely to have advanced.

Marwell darlek thankyou for the information , one question..... what do you think the chances are of the parks continuing this species after the remaining ratel dies?

I have no idea, but I do hope they continue to keep and hopefully breed this rare and fascinating species. Didn't see it when I went in May, but here's hoping for next time.

damn! then in all probability it appears that the ratels could have died , i hope that the Aspinall parks bring in some more , it would be a great shame for them not to continue with this species

Now at Howletts they have Tyson whom is a 4 year old honey badger who was aquirred 1 or 2 years ago. of recent 24 year old winnie died who is in the picture above.
