Thanks for that Cat-Man although i already knew.
Its all of his closest friends, I could recognise a few of the Gorilla names and quite alot of Tiger ones including Tara his first and favourite tiger
Remarkable, but not great. Whatever his contribution to zookeeping in Britain, I have huge qualms about calling a neofascist misanthrope like Aspinall "great".
Indeed it was my friend Rizki , i have alot of admiration for John Aspinall , he was a pioneer and a gentleman , although some of his beliefs were quite extreme. I have one of his books i buy it from ebay , its called *The best of friends. I havent read it yet but i will get round to it.

It is true he was a misanthrope but then again there is nothing wrong with being a misanthrope. Its also true he had some facist view points which is quite disturbing. I heard that John Aspinall was very outspoken about Francos facist spain and Nazi germany and that he supported the facists during the civil war and the second world war. Despite his dreadful political sympathies i have respect for him foremost as a conservationist and a man whose wealth went into captive breeding programes in many ways unrivalled.
