does anyone know his name? he was in the bachelor group in Port Lympne (with Ambam and Mataki) in 2010. I think they have been moved to the Netherlands recently.
Yes, this whole group of five males- now four without Boumi, are supposed to go together to Rhenen. But it seems to have been considerably delayed, it was planned for them to have gone already. Someone took photos at Rhenen(look in Rhenen gallery) of the commenced enclosure, there are banner advertisements featuring all five males and they are named too.
I presume the four younger 'K' males in the other Pavilion will go to Longleat next year but its only my guess that is where Longleat will get them from. Maybe you can ask if you are visiting sometime- also about a future male in Kijo's old group?

He Died of A Parasite Infection and the vet anaesthetised him but he died during the procedure and they tried to resuscitate him but he didn't come around he was one of the most handsome silverbacks in the aspinall collection its ashame he never got the opportunity to breed
If you ever need any information about the gorillas at Howletts or Port Lympne just ask
Do you know the exact date that Boumi died? In Gorillahaven it says 1st February but I thought he died in September 2011. If you give me the correct date, I will inform Mr. Davis so he can correct his data. Thank you.
Yeah It was September 2011 not February Deffinately but i dont know the excact date unfortunately sorry, Perhaps emailing port lympne or sending them a message on their facebook page ??
That is such a shame about Boumi - he was indeed a very handsome gorilla, we used to call him Captain Boumi when he was being handreared around the same time as Ambam, Tamki and Timbou as he was the most level headed. I went to see the group in February 2011 with a local news crew as it was around the time of all the fuss over Ambam's walking. Boumi was there then and had lost a lot of weight. They were concerned about him at the time but thought he was on the mend.
Colin Angus and myself handreared Ambam in our cottage at Howletts when he was pulled from Shamba at a year old due to severe shigella. This was around the same time that Bridget Wedderburn and Phil Ridges handreared from birth in quick succession Mataki (Bons), Boumi, Tamki and Timbou.
Tamki and Timbou both had some slight nervous 'issues', especially Tamki. Timbou does seem particularly affected by his handrearing and was rather distressed and vocal when I went over to see him. That enclosure where he is separated was also used for several years to house the male Djala on his own. I have a very poignant photo of him from that time when he was deemed unsuitable for breeding to a genetic defect that was wrongly attributed to him. It is fantastic to see Djala now leading his own very viable group at Howletts after those years in solitary confinement.
