The first houses male Kifu and females Sidonie , Bamilla , Emba , Mushie and Tambabi . Much of the 'Old Gorillas' area was shut-off for maintenance work . Did not see any small babies and there does seem to be a lot less Gorillas at Howletts than before .

This 'group' is what's left of Kijo's old group with a new younger male 'Ebeki'(a grandson of Kijo) now added to it from the nearby Kifu group. Also 'Emmie' from Djala's group as she is humanised so wasn't sent to Africa with them (perhaps luckily for her...) According to Gorillasland website its actually split into three at present as they are still in the process of forming one group with them.

Its true there are rather less Gorillas at Howletts at present, since the Kouillou group in the garden area replaced Djala's at Port Lympne. Three other females were removed from other Howletts' groups and added to Kouillou's at PL at the same time, plus a total of three females(one died) were also sent to Belo Horizonte in South America notthat long ago. There is only one main group (Djanghou's) in the older enclosures, and just the two old females now(Juju and Baby Doll) afaik using the very oldest cages.

Interesting to hear there is maintenance work going on in that area too. I wonder what's happening.
