Panthera pardus japonensis.
I love this picture. I once viewed this subspecies at (the now defunct) Benson's Wild Animal Park in Hudson, New Hampshire. This is a beautiful shot. How close is this subspecies to the Amur Leopard?

The two subspecies are pretty similar in appearance; the Amur is perhaps a little larger and shaggier.

Lovely shot, which lenses do you use?

Thanks zootiger!

95% of my zoo shots (including this one) are taken using a 70-200 zoom - specifically a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM. The remainder are probably split 50/50 between a 17-40mm zoom (mainly for enclosure shots, or occasions when I'm really close to something big) and a 100mm macro (when I'm really close to something small!). I've also hired a 100-400 zoom on a couple of occasions - which was nice for the occasional long shot, but was not something which I enjoyed carrying around all day. :)
