Is this an overly suitable exhibit for a binturong - quite dark, fully enclosed and with little vegetation? I'm sure the spare male could be exported to a New Zealand zoo...
What happened to the porcupine? I know it wasn't there when I visited in mid-2009, missing from the 2009 census and listed as 'delete by attrition' in the 2008 census, so did it just die? Did the binturong immediately replace the porcupine in this exhibit, or was it empty/otherwise occupied for a while? I don't remember what was in it at all in my 2009 visit.
And rather off-topic, but here will do, what birds are housed in the aviary/aviaries next to the meerkats? And what is the plan for the exhibits at the very end of that pathway, adjacent to the thar and most recently holding red pandas?

I think it is adequate, it is quite high with many climbing opportunities and has plenty of chance to hide away from people (many visitors couldn't spot it).
The porcupine, Natasha, came from Melbourne and was an old animal, so yes she did die. The exhibit held a spare fishing cat for a while, I have a feeling it was Imphal the female now at Hamilton Zoo.
The only bird that I know is in the aviary next to the meerkats is a male Victoria Crowned Pigeon. And I don't know what will happen to the old red panda exhibits sorry.

I think the current exhibit is probably better as it is darker and quieter as opposed to the old red panda exhibits, but has limited viewing which is a downside.
