The male in the middle is certainly an Axis. The others (barring the Pere David's) are Fallow. :)
 
Thought so, and I do remember someone mentioning a while back that Longleat got chital now; so nice to see yet more safari diversification!
 
There is some mention on their plans(for the Estate a whole) of possibly reintroducing the Fallow Deer back into the open parkland of the Estate e.g. near the House etc. I never quite understood why some years ago they enclosed them after several hundred years of comparative freedom- unless it was to make up numbers in one of the animal reserves.

Hopefully they will do this at some stage as the park seems lacking with just the sheep and no Fallow Deer.
 
Yeah, I've got a feeling they may start phasing out the deer feeding reserve soon, what with there now being a deer feeding area in the on-foot park. Letting them back into the estate would seem a sensible idea, and with pere davids and axis deer starting to colonise the deer park it would be nice to maybe see an Asian hoofstock themed reserve here.
