I've heard reports of some living into their 70s, but I'm not sure how accurate such claims are. 60 plus is definitely a good innings though!

Lulu seemed very stiff in her movements, she's definitely looking her age.

It certainly is impressive. Is she a wild-born animal, and how long has she been at Taronga for?

Is she the oldest living chimp in captivity? I think Janie at Auckland is 59/60 now.

I believe she is wild born, and spent time as an entertainment chimp/pet. Not sure about her exact history though.

Little Mama at Lion Country Safari in Florida is thought to be in her seventies, she's probably the oldest.

Lulu came to Taronga from a circus in the US I think around 50 or so years ago......that's all I know.

Prior to Taronga Lulu lived down Wollongong way, and as Soona said, she was a pet used as an entertainment animal. She famously appeared in TV commercials in the 60's, 70's and 80's before her owner decided she was too big (or he was too old to look after her properly) and she ended up at Taronga.
