Now replaced with new enclosure on same site (holding Amur Leopards).
The last female, Sita, lived out her remaining days in the converted old lion enclosure while the amurs were on the main site.

Ahh, thankyou. Did they ever breed, because I'm pretty sure I remember seeing her give birth on one occasion + the little cub falling from the top of the exhibits climbing structers. He got up straight after that tho;)

In fact there was a short period where both Amur and Persian Leopards lived side by side in the new enclosure.

The last Persian Leopard was moved to the converted Asiatic Lion Enclosure (which had been empty for some years) and the new Leopard enclosure constructed on the site of the old one (as above).

The Amurs arrived (1.1) and were installed in the new enclosure but the female escaped owing to a fault with the new enclosure around one tree. She was tranquilized while in the tree, and unfortunately fell and died.

The enclosure was modified to prevent re-occurences and the female Persian was moved into the new enclosure alonside the male Amur. - only to return to the old Lion enclosure when a new female Amur arrived.

The old Lion enclosure was then used for Ernesto the Giant Anteater before his enclosure near the gift shop (itself ex Vicuna & Arabian Oryx) was constructed. Following that, the outside enclosure was dismanted and the house became the short-lived Amphibian Ark. There is currently no access to this house.
