Is this a decent snow leopard exhibit? Marwell is an interesting zoo (and John Knowles's book is okay but nothing spectacular) although a major British zoo without any elephants or great apes is an anomaly. Are there even lions there? I know that Marwell has been known for its vast herds of hoofstock, but what are the top 2-3 exhibits? Is most of the zoo full of fenced-in grass fields or are there some top-notch habitats that are truly exemplary? The huge African savanna enclosure appears to be the best of the bunch, and that impressive exhibit is fairly new to the zoo.
I found it thoroughly enjoyable. He offers so many insights into the practical matters of running a zoo as well as the transformation of zoos in his lifetime, I am surprised a zoo fanatic like you did not like it more.
