Wierd!
I wonder if the sculptor remembered the old women's lib saying 'A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle'? This would be the amplified version with a unicycle. :D

Perhaps indeed.
There are alot of these works of art in the park every year now, some are rather more bizarre than others, they are also finding their way into the animals enclosures - in place of real animals in some cases!

I don't think Marwell really knows what it is anymore- conservation centre, straight zoological park or simply a pleasant venue for days out and functions. You choose...

I remember going to the Jardin des Plantes fifteen years ago when for some reason various artefacts had been placed in enclosures. Most have now gone out of my memory, but I do recall seeing a concert piano had been put into the Ostrich enclosure. As you do.

This sort of silly rubbish does nothing to enhance what used to be one of the best UK hoofstock & feline collections, and appears to have lost its way.

Well I think animal related sculptures have their place and can be an interesting addition to any zoological collection if used in the right way but I personally don`t think that they should be used in an animal enclosure in place of an animal exhibit. Visitors pay to see living animals after all.

This was actually at the sculpture exhibition at Sir Hillier Gardens which is nearby... funny that!

Yes that is rather odd, perhaps the artist places his sculptures at various places ?
They only remain at Marwell for a set period every year.
