New Coati enclosure

Do you know why this was done? It seems strange that they have build a similar style of enclosure near to the original. Are there two areas linked by overhead ropes? I'm assuming this was slightly modelled on ZSL's 'Animal Adventure', hence the coatis being moved into the most interactive and child-focused area of the park. I don't like the complete lack of vegetation or shade, though.

For a site containing so much mature woodland, Marwell seem to avoid incorporating this into any of the enclosures for arboreal or forest-dwelling species.

The Coatis are very popular with the public and their former enclosure, although functional and effective, was showing its age and was in need of a re-think. The new enclosure was designed by keepers, there is a connecting rope between the two areas with the idea that the public can watch them climb over their heads. It is not the best looking enclosure I agree.
