I was in two minds to post this as I feel some members will correct people just for the sake of their ego.
gulogulogulo is correct (H. thompsoni is a very different species).
People post identifications and corrections because they are trying to be helpful. Sometimes they are wrong, most of the time they are correct. DesertRhino150 was obviously unaware of the variability of black bulbul and thought the identification was incorrect. He was trying to be helpful. Are you suggesting that he was in fact being egotistical?
I certainly wasn't suggesting DesertRhino150 was being egotistical.
Do you ever read over your own comments on photos in the gallery? Perhaps you should.
yes I'm quite aware that you have issues with me, but you did just post in response to DesertRhino150's post. If you didn't think he was being egotistical why not save that remark for a response to someone who you think is being egotistical? As I said, people post with identifications and corrections because they are trying to be helpful to the person in question. I don't think I've ever read someone posting an identification or correction to a photo title intending it to be one-up-manship or whatever you think they are doing (but then I don't look at every photo comment, perhaps there are people that do that).
I saw this little bird flitting around when I visited Newquay's tropical house. It was very eyecatching and looked rather like a white-headed (Eurasian)blackbird. I found he/she (there only seemed to be one) was somehow more interesting than the more colourfully exotic species.
