@Hix

I take it then that the Elephants at Chester are from Nambia then.

The other quote you say I am wrong on is a slightly more expressive way of putting in words what I was trying to get across thank you for expanding on what I tried to say.

I'm not suggesting anything about the elephants at Chester. All I was saying was that your statement "elephants don't live in deserts" it not completely accurate.

What species of elephants are Noah's Ark planning on acquiring?

@Hix I wasn't trying to have a go I was just being sarcatistic about the people who come on here and put down other collections just because it's not Chester Zoo

I like the way you corrected me and thank you for that I now know something I didn't before many thanks again

Presumably Asian, as the information (see other photos) focuses on this species.

Generally speaking and as Yassa commented above, I will be surprised if they can source breeding-aged females from other zoos that easily, even if the accomodation is regarded as of suitable quality. Even Woburn SP who appear to have been wanting to add to their existing group of 1.2 for some time, have only quite recently managed to acquire one additional female. NA also talk about getting elephants from other zoos where they don't 'fit' or need to be relocated- elephants in this category aren't likely to form a nice simple breeding nucleus of 1.3- so which is it they will have? If they were offering to form a bachelor group of young bulls, they might get offers a lot quicker.

And as HantsLad said, 'migrating' doesn't seem quite the right term to use for Elephants in a 15 acre enclosure, but that's just a nitpick. If this plan does happen , it will increase their profile-so watch out Bristol Zoo (and Longleat).

so watch out Bristol Zoo (and Longleat).

...and the scientific integrity of British zoo education, which will go up in smoke if this place becomes a major player.

Has this project moved towards reality or does it belong in Fantasyland?

Is this Noah's Ark place accredited by the UK equivalent of the AZA?

It has indeed started to become a reality,if you give me chance will post pictures taken a couple of days ago,that show it at a very early start!!

As for as this place ever been part of BIAZA which is the UK version of AZA,yes it was a few years ago but they were expelled for a varity of reasons!
