I think just some plant beds and a grass area were destroyed. The cockatoo aviary is still there (I think it might just be vacated until construction is completed). And on your last point, it does appear to go as far back to the orangutan exhibit, although it is quite hard to see as the path past the exhibit is now blocked off.

Thanks for that, always good when something is added without the loss of exhibits/species - not something that has recently been happening at Taronga.

I guess this is to be an education type building for school groups and possibly society meetings, rather than for the general visitor?
