Gambira does resemble Bulu in her distinctive body shape, though facially I don't see much likeness.

Bulu was so distinctive facially I'm sure I could still identify any photo of her. Give me 200 photos of closeup Orangutan faces and I'm sure I could pick out any which were of Bulu.:)

Last year I saw a photo of an orangutan in Amneville France and I 'recognised' her as Julitta from Jersey(and previously Bristol) even though I was unaware at the time she had been transferred there. Again it is because I had known her a very long time.

very nice looking exhibit from what I see, somewhat of the forest floor of borneo. Well from what I saw in my times in Sarawak, Malaysia

A family member once accompanying me to the zoo asked me how I could tell the orangs apart and I replied "Well, it's obvious, isn't it?". She also queried how they recognised me and I said "Why wouldn't they?".
The first anniversary of Bulu's death (May 7) is approaching and there's still no sign of the supposedly planned memorial to her :(

They've got two very natural islands. Some officials from Sabah visited Paignton to give a talk about orangs in 2005 and were very impressed by the enclosure.

It is very good, potentially the best, at least the outdoors, in any UK Zoo.

That's why I was so surprised by 'Monkey Heights'..:D
