Looking out for the mid wife!
Hope she's got plenty of provisions up there with her. It could be a long wait!

They have till the last week in September to have these babies as I am coming to see them then :P

What an absolutely wonderful photo! I love seeing pictures of monkeys and great apes being able to climb tall living trees in zoo enclosures.

And the tree's still alive! This proves the over-use of hotwire ;)

do they use hotwire to protect the tree's? or have the orangs just not got around to destroying them yet?

No, there's no hot wire. Some of the smaller trees/shrubs have broken branches but there are still plenty of climbing opportunities.

The pictures from Paighton of the orang exhibit are spectacular!
These tress do look badly used to me, though. How long have the animals had access to this enclosure?

I can't find any pictures here on Zoochat that give a sense of the entire space :(

Around fifteen years I think, although they didn't show much interest in climbing before Demo, the new male, arrived.

I doubt you will find any pictures giving scale as it is so dense and kind of an odd shape, all I can say is that the orang island is smaller than the gorilla one but both are BIG!
