I would be more worried what a chimpanzee would do with this block of ice, knowing their nature is much different than than of gorillas. But how much hot wire is there?

Outdoor enclosure of Gorillas at Paignton is fully fenced by hot-wire, as you can see in the photo.
Yet, while being true that if the water frozens, the gorillas can easily jump that wire, they are not let out on cold days, much less on days with frozen water.
Well, thats not really the frozen water that I was talking about
If you know this enclosure, it quite a "swanp" around it, it lots of water stoped in between, making it very good to have these pieces of ice formated.
But no way frozen water that allow the Gorillas to step into
I know the enclosure well. It is not a swamp but an overflow from the main lake which on the occasion that i took the above picture was frozen and Kumbuka spent most of the day throwing the ice he managed to break from the edges skimming across the frozen water followed by a look of amazement when the ice didnt dissapear into what he thought was water He then tried throwing large branches on the ice and they eventually broke the hot wire which sets the alarm of in the ape house. I also managed to take a video of him testing the ice and he was facinated when he pressed on it and it took his weight it statrted to make strange sucking noises.
The point that was also being made was that the Gorillas are never stoped from going out in all types of temperatures and conditions.
