Nice picture from one of mine favorite glossy starlings ! I've taken care - and was part of the breeding - of this species at Walsrode Birdpark.
Because it's quite rare - not only in captivity but also in the wild - I'm intrested to know howmany birds there re at Paignton and do you know if they have been bred there ?
Excellent photograph. I bought an Emerald Starling for £20 about ten years ago and it escaped two days later by shooting behind me as I entered the aviary, landing on the wire and then dropping down through the door. I was left cursing myself for allowing it to happen and for letting down the bird.
I don't know exactly, but I saw a group with at least one young bird. They do not appear in the 2011 inventory, which is the latest one published. Perhaps one of our Paignton regulars knows more than I do.
