I think that this paddock was ok originally, if lacking cover. Now I think that they've gone OTT with all these "structures" (for want of a better word) and have made it look slightly silly.
Its easy to comment after the event but I think I would have placed say, just one pair of these boards together to form a 'cross'(X) or T-shaped structure to give protection/shelter from wind/sun(?)privacy in different directions. I would have wired off a couple of small plots and planted a couple of small trees, not designed for the Anoa to get at, to allow a more landscaped appearance. Two more trees to add to the existing one(?), would probably suffice.

Yes absolutely, these X, Y,T or Z shaped "baffles" are used for the creation of shade or shelter or indeed for privacy and escape by chasing potential mates.
I have seen them used with Anoa before.
Though having so many like that, arranged in that way and made that way looks awful I have to say.
