A forest of poles has appeared since my last photo.
Do the poles have any ropes or tubing to connect them so they can move between posts?

Not yet, but I believe they were only 'planted' on Saturday. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

Potentially it looks a whole lot better, provided the concrete bases stand up to being immersed in what must be pretty wet ground all the time.

The ducks have had an extra pond on there during the recent deluges! There's at least one pole beside the house so it looks as though the plan is for the orangs to be able to cross the moat by ropes, netting or whatever.

You may have noticed that what was left of the old trees has been cut down.

This is making me look forward to my planned trip to Paignton in the summer even more!

Thanks for keeping us updated with the new developments on the Orangutan Island Gigit.

The poles were being connected with lots of straps this morning. At the same time, the tall trees on the large island, seen in the background in this photo, were being cut back, or maybe cut down - I wasn't there long enough to see the outcome.
