Electus Parrot

Australian Shelduck

I remember I saw a pair of these when I was getting cows up early one morning but have never seen them again except in a zoo.

This is a female.

Pat: I saw several hundred wild ones on a farm on Kangaroo Island. Definitely worth a visit.

Cool...I am just so used to seeing woodies and blackies that I got a bit of a shock when I saw them standing just off the track. They're quite a bit bigger then the other ducks we get around here and a lot more colourful.

I think this one is actually a male because the female Australian shelduck has a white ring around its eye.

Quite right!

For some reason I thought it was the male with the eye-ring.
