Coati - Closing Day - 05/09/2010

I have a soft spot for coati's and ended up wanting to take this animal home with me, a feeling not helped when it put its paw through the wire.

Although the husbandry standard at the Palms is acceptable, the coati's cage is far too small and this animal was showing signs of stereotyping, something I've rarely seen in coati. Hopefully they will go to a better home.

Taken at the Palms Tropical Oasis, Stapeley Water Gardens, just before the facility closed its doors for good on the 5th September 2010.

Him and his brother were moved to Reaseheath College in October. They have a brand new enclosure, plenty of enrichment and to date I have never seen them show any signs of the steryotypical behaviours they showed when The Palms had them.
