This is a magnificent species, but they are very devils to photograph as the white on the head burns out so easily.

I'd say so.

I don't think I can blame the bird here Alan - it is probably my fault it is not a great photo, but as it was of a little seen species I posted it. Mind you I may have another in the 200+ photos I've yet to go through, although something tells me this could be the only one I managed on the day.

I'm not blaming anyone - certainly not you as the photographer, because all of my photos of this species have been very similar. The only species I know that matches them for this exposure problem is the hawk-headed parrot.

I was just blaming myself! I did have another photo of it but it was totally out of focus. Funnily enough I also had two poor ones of a Hawk-headed Parrot.
