Hayle have supplied their home-bred birds to Durrell's reintroduction project on Jersey.

So far, out of sixteen (now fifteen) birds in the Release project on Jersey, all but four were bred at PP. They supplied the initial cohort of birds, and then topped up with a few more after one or two went missing. Afaik they also supplied Jersey's own breeding pairs too.

After the trial release in Cornwall, which pretty much coincided with the birds' natural return to the County, they weren't allowed to release any more. So its good their breeding efforts have found an outlet on Jersey.

During my visit to this very nice park last week it was stated that 12 chicks have been hatched this year which will be sent to Jersey for the release programme . The large breeding aviaries can be seen at the back of the field where domestic animals are displayed .

Good news they are sending this lot to Jersey also.:) I think Jersey have only managed to breed one themselves this year( in the Zoo that is) unless their breeding pairs laid second clutches.

A chick has fledged from a nest within a busy working building on the Rozel Quarry on Jersey . Details on Birds on the Edge .
