The only other place I've seen anything like this is the San Diego Wild Animal Park used to have a similar setup within their "Hidden Jungle" display.
 
Where do the frogs actually live? It appears to be a pond with a small island of plants in the middle or do my eyes deceive me?!? :)

It's not a pond.

If I remember rightly, it is a layer of a soil/mulch type substrate with a few plants
 
How do they stop them climbing out?
 
the frogs cant climb onto the rocks for some reason ? its soil/mulch substrate and the frogs breed under the coconut husks in a shallow water tray. they are doing quite well in here and it started as an experimental enclosure but probably will stay now, for humidity the entire rainforest building has rainfall twice a day via a sprinkler system (type thing) lol
