Mistakes

This is the guidebook of Port Lympne Wild Animal Park.

See the enclosed photos which are from this guide (scientific name, or IUCN category, or mixed-up photos, etc.)

I know that is no easy task to edit a perfect guide, but I think this is too much mistake from such a famous and leading zoo like Port Lympne Wild Animal Park.
Yep, indicated by the Cheetah and Brown Hyeana's presence on the enclosed map. Though it's possible that the book's older and the map's just been updated, as these two species aren't in the book itself.

Have you Emailed them to let them know about the mistakes would be good to know what they say about it very bad to have so many in one book. a few years back they had a mistake with a couple of pictures mixed up the axis deer and hog deer (something about hog deer they dont like lol)

yes that was last years, it was between howletts and port lympnes guide

The criteria for a decent zoo guidebook have changed somewhat in these times of Wikipedia. Many guidebooks still give very basic species info. which any visitor with a modicum of curiosity could obtain with a few mouse-clicks.The visitor, when purchasing a guidebook , is often looking for something relating to the particular collection ( history , biographies of individual animals , participation in species survival plans etc.)Many guidebooks play down to the lowest common denominator , who probably would not purchase the guidebook in the first place. And very often , some souvenir-type quality is appreciated (well-written forewords, great illustrations, etc).Any zoo guidebook , except perhaps special editions for young children, is an embarrassment if it does not include scientific names to a subspecies level.Few visitors want to be told for the 118th time what a cheetah is , but may well be curious about the part played by those 5 individual cheetahs in front of them in the SSP.

To be fair to Port Lympne, they used to have Asian Elephant which are endangered, rather than the africans which are, I believe, near threatened. However, this is still a very large amount of mistakes for one guide book (and how the heck did they get a margay mixed up with an amur tiger?)
