They have a very nice collection of Pheasants, but this Lady Amhurst is showing signs of impurity - the red on the thights means he has some Golden Pheasant in his make up.... unfortunatly, all too common with Lady Amhurst Pheasants in this country
There also shouldn't be any red in the green cap. Pure Amhersts have an elliptical green cap, with a small red crest coming out of the back. As you say, the red on the flanks is also a sign of Golden Pheasant ancestry.
It is unfortunate for aviculturists in Australia that you don't have access to the Amherst line that San Diego Zoo imported from China some years ago.
