Iberian wolf

Much easier to see than the ones at Howletts, but still a challenge to photograph in their large wooded enclosure. Near entrance, Port Lympne, 6th August 2010

Alan. Excellent shot but could you not have removed that twig in front of his face? :D

Its good to see photos of this animal appearing on here now. They have a very distinctive brownish/sandy look about them compared to other subspecies.

I didn't want the wolf to move, they were much too good at that (I have a lot of blurred shots). Unfortunately I could not summon up enough psychokinetic power to make the twig move out of the way :o
It's a wonderful exhibit which made me think of Little Red Riding Hood; you know there are four wolves out there, you catch glimpses through the trees and the undergrowth and then one suddenly appears, trots through your eyeline and disappears again

Looks like a Kelpie.

Great shot.

Ah, sorry. Thought you meant these fellas, admittedly a bit confused! :p

Kelpies mean different thinks to different people in different places. You are both right.

There is a vague resemblance to the Dog Kelpie but not to the other... I think these Spanish wolves are fascinating creatures.
