Great enclosure for the Snow Leopard Blizzard. I think she has moved to base camp now. Last time I went to Port Lympne it took hours to find her. Eventfully towards closing time we finally saw here!!!
This enclosure has hardly changed, if at all !, since my days as a keeper back in the mid 80,s at Port Lympne, and to think on a clear day the Snow Leopard,s can see France,. As you rightly say, you need to spend time looking for said animal,s as there are very good hiding places within the enclosure. I would also go along the the lines to say wen this was constructed it most of been unsall not to have a roof on !.
I never saw the snow leopard on either of my two visits (October 2009 and September 2010). But this area is no longer a place to walk to and is now part of the newly redesigned tram tour, is that correct? If so, what (if anything) is housed here now?
Port Lympne has two snow leopards, Marta and Blizzard. I believe that Blizzard is in her new exhibit by base camp and Marta is possibly in this enclosure which is off show. But I'm not to sure!!!
No Marta is at Base Camp whilst Blizzard is still with her mate up in the enclosure seen above. I think it is a real shame that you cant walk to this enclosure to see the snow leopards or Samira the disabled Lioness. The changes are rubbish!
