For enrichment. How else will the gorillas keep up with the Kardashians or watch Modern Family? Everyone knows gorillas have terrible taste in television.

Have to agree, the first time l saw this l was overwhelmed by it, seems to be one of the most intelligently designed enclosure l had ever seen and still is.
Watching the gorillas use all of the enclosure ( except the yard was also memorable )
Seem to remember a small enclosure to the right was it holding baboon lemurs? They were overshadowed by the gorillas in every way.
I think its the whole group(eleven animals) bar no 12, a very humanised female 'Emmie' who was born in La Palmyre, France.
Nothing has been announced about which animals will replace Djala's group when it does leave but I'm sure it won't stay empty long and they have plans for it, e.g. possibly forming a new breeding group in here?

IMO its the best designed of all their Gorilla enclosures, having both a very extensive covered area and the very large open outdoors area too. The latter tends not to be used a lot though apart from when they are scatter-fed in it each day but that's pretty typical for Gorillas.
