Both yourself and Zambar have photo'd these at PL this year. Maybe they are showing better now. I never saw a hair of one on my last visit when they were only at Howletts...
They're far more showy at Port Lympne than Howletts, both when they were in their old exhibit by the hyaenas and now in the old Timber Wolf exhibit near the entrance.
Unfortunately the lens on my camera couldn't cope with the mesh in this case!

Possibly because the ones at Port Lympne are the 'pups' that were born at Howletts so have had some human contact from early on. Whereas the original ones at Howletts came from somewhere else- either captive or the wild, though I don't know where they got them from.
These wolves are wary, but not exactly shy. I really like them in this enclosure because it has much more undergrowth than the one at Howletts, so that you can tell that the animals are moving around, without being able see much. Then suddenly one appears out of the cover - then it may disappear, trot up to the wire or flit through the trees to the other end of the enclosure, with or without the other wolves following. I spent quite a time watching and shooting photos, and I would have spent longer if the gorilla feeding time had not been approaching.
