But they are often difficult to see here, are they not? Much better luck at Le Parc Des Felins (just a short hop through the Chunnel for you UK folks).
Didn't have any trouble seeing them when I visited Port Lympne, considering there are multiple enclosures containing them around the collection; do not know how showy they will be at Hamerton as their enclosure is still offshow - though planned to be opened up to the public at some point.
The couple times I went to PL there was only one, heavily planted enclosure. I only got a photo on my first visit because keeper was there for feeding and he told me he would wait one minute for me to take the photo because as soon as he fed they would disappear into the bushes.
It sounds like they have add more exhibits. I will be interested to see this on my visit in a month or so.
Either that or the others were unmarked when you visited; if memory serves I saw three "onshow" enclosures and two which were behind other enclosures and thus theoretically offshow, but which were still visible.
Using the above annotated map you uploaded some years ago, two of the onshow enclosures and both the offshow enclosures were in the general area labelled 6 and 7, and the final onshow enclosure was in the area labelled 8 and 9. This enclosure provided the most prolonged views of the cats.
Overall I saw rusty cats in two of the onshow and one of the offshow enclosures - in fact my initial lifetick was obtained from the latter!

From my experience in the 2013 challenge there are a number of the cats that are difficult to see, I tended to see most of the smaller cats later on in the day around feeding time. The day I visited Port Lympne I must have visited the Rusty Spotted and Black Footed enclosures 3 or 4 times before finally seeing them and as TLD said well worth the waiting to see them. They are both very small and very quick.
The incredibly ironic thing when I visited was the fact the black-footed cat was the first species, barring the unmissable baboons next to the entrance to the collection, I saw at Port Lympne although only the briefest glimpse, as Snowy Owl observes the decent views had to wait until the afternoon.
I think there are 2 on-show rusty spotted cat exhibits- one next to the current fossa exhibit which is very dense in plants. And another at the end of the primate walk near the clouded leopards.
Indeed - as noted above my initial lifetick was actually obtained by spotting one in an offshow enclosure about 20 metres behind the one you mention next to the fossa exhibit
