Do Port Lympne still hold American bison? And any further news as to whats going into the elephant paddocks?
Rob, whats your opinion on Port Lympne? It seems that, since my last visit, it's gradually becoming more a collection of wedding venues and holiday homes rather than an animal collection!

I'm really a PL newbie -- I only visited Port Lympne for the first (and, two days later, second) times less than a year ago. I returned for another couple of days back-to-back in the spring, as well as this visit. So, from that, you can probably guess that I'm quite keen on the place! I guess most of the changes which have riled or disappointed many of the more seasoned visitors, happened prior to my initial visits.
I certainly didn't find the wedding venue and holiday accommodation too intrusive. I quite like the truck rides (even on a Bank Holiday weekend it wasn't too bad!). I'm generally pretty happy spending most of the day down in Carnivore Territory - still plenty there to interest me, despite a few losses over the past year or so. As a photographer, there's plenty of subject matter in a stunning location.
I also love the long opening hours (compared to most other collections), and all of the staff/keepers I've met there have been very forthcoming and obliging.
So yes, I like it! But perhaps it's a case of me not missing something I've never had?
