This is probably my favourite of your RSCC photos - the setting looks absolutely lovely, and that definitly makes up for the fact that the enclosures look a bit small. Thanks for giving this glimpse of what the place looks like!!

quite a nice enclosure for gibbons :) thanks for all the photos redpanda! gives a real insight of the place!

I disagree about this enclosure - it's not up to standard, in my opinion. It's not just that it is small and low, there are no ropes or horizontal branches for the gibbons to brachiate from; they just have to hang on to the wire.

This enclosure is without a doubt far too small for a group of gibbons, and the lack of substantial vines, ropes and other climbing frames is tragic. A totally crap exhibit, and it boggles my mind that anyone would defend it. There are worse gibbon enclosures in many other zoos (especially Asian, South American and Eastern European collections) but there is no way that this RSCC exhibit is even close to average in quality for the western world.

I agree with gentle lemur, this enclosure is too low and too small and like most of the enclosures at this place seems like it has been designed with little or no thought given to the animals needs at all.

Sure the exhibits look nice with artificial rockwork, plants etc and all are very clean! i have no doubt that the animals are very well cared for, but that is not enough in my opinion!

the whole right hand side of the enclosure has nothing except a small dead tree to swing and play on and the result is clear in the gibbon just sitting on the floor in a big empty space.

Couldn't of put it better myself, lack of height and climbing opportunities is disgusting.

hopefully this enclosure will be improved , i agree that there should be more branches and ropes and possibly the roof should be higher , i think this centre should probably consult and reach out to the Aspinall parks

This place has a very different feel to the Aspinall parks, so I'm not sure whether that would work. In my opinion, if the site was larger and the enrichment programme better, then this would be a great zoo. I think the director is just trying to cram too much into too small a space and as long as this continues, the centre will be criticised.
