Maybe because it's not a bad size for such a small animal and has quite a few plants? It could do with more climbing things, but the number in there is acceptable.
This is actually a reasonable exhibit, if a little bare at the time of the photograph, when compared to the other UK holdings of this species. I trust they obtained them through the same in situ funded programme that the others came through from?
It does look a little bit bare ,i think it could do with some more ,to allow for climbing but i think it isnt so terrible as Reduakari makes it out to be
Owston's civets are mostly ground-dwelling. Why branch it out massively when the species spends most of its time on the ground? The branching in it is more than suitable for a ground-dwelling species.
They are good climbers and would potentially make use of the upper levels of the enclosure. Also some food-based enrichment could be used on branches or shelves/hollow logs above the ground.
