Flamingos, RSCC, Kent

Chilean (I think) flamingo pond, Gibbon cage in the background.

They´re Caribbean flamingos. I don´t like to see so tiny flamingo group. Does the owner have plans to bring in new birds, or to send this species away?

How hard would it be to put a hedge or something between the gibbons and the flamingos so you can't see straight through.

Is there more to the flamingo pool than meets the eye? This photo makes it appear to be one of the most barren flamingo pools in existence, and are there any more birds?

I think it's a batchalor group, so they probably won't add anymore.
And what else could they put in the pool that would really benefit the birds?

I'm afraid that the only thing that's missing from the photo is a little bit of lawn on the left. There are too few birds and they are too near the public for them to feel comfortable - and there's no room for anything more. It's pointless and it's bad.

And I don't know if they even had a shelter. They'd be better to fill this pond in and give the land to another bear enclosure or something.

I know that comparing a 1.5 acre conservation centre to the mighty San Diego Zoo is pointless, but what is effective is looking at a decent flamingo pool. The RSCC could have a sandy shoreline created at minimal cost, or nests created out of rocks or small pebbles, and I have to agree with Gentle Lemur's assessment that "it's pointless and it's bad". Proabably the only flamingo pool that I've ever seen that is actually worse than the one in the photo is the flamingo exhibit at the West Edmonton Mall. That is the second largest shopping mall in the world, and it is located in Edmonton, Canada.

Yeah this pond isn't very good, seems like the flamingos were just put there to fill space.

Take these poor birds from their fish pond and find them a better home - it's not even a rare species.
