From information on the websites: the various animal/zoo management/welfare degrees run at Reaseheath are done in conjunction with Chester University. Students also get membership of Chester zoo and some classes are taken there.
Whether that includes stuff on making enclosures look pretty for visitors I don't know.
I actually did a one week taster agricultural course at Reaseheath many years ago (milking cows, feeding pigs, driving tractors, trimming sheep's feet and dehorning calves... great fun!). Yes, they did indeed have battery hens. They were given more space than the industry standard though! Less hens per cage. Don't know if it's still the same!
