Phew, it missed the Llamas. 20th April 2014

I'm amazed at this photo for the wrong reason Our Chestnut trees in the back garden are in full flower and hum with bees, and all or nearly all other trees are in first leaf. To think we are only about 200 miles away, if that, is quite amazing. But we are having a lovely sunny spring this year.

On another note, this has been waiting to happen for a while as the heart wood looks rather un healthy. i suspect it has canker and possibly leaf minor too ours has both along with a preservation order which makes life a little more problematic when it comes to pruning etc.

We have had quite a bit of sun, but usually accompanied by a chilly breeze such as over most of Easter (Good Friday was the warmest day but Easter Sunday evening was perishing - and the sun had gone in to boot). We often get mist or a major sea fret when most other places have warm weather. Overall though, spring has been quite pleasant.

The place on the tree trunk from which this fell looks even more unhealthy!
