While we were chatting by her car at the end of the day KeeperKatie spotted this Canada Goose patrolling the zoo's perimeter fence.

Its an immature- how do I know?

I thought it looked like an immature just because it didn't appear to have full adult plumage, but I'm sure you have a more advanced, for want of a better term, reason !

Desperate...

Looks like a juvenile to me -- slightly unfinished look, difficult to put my finger on, but it's this year's young. Possibly lost, even maybe hand reared and looking for people?

No, same reason, just plumage stuff...

Lack of clearly defined line at base of neck.
Chin patch not clearly defined.
Back featheres not clearly demarcated.

Plus it looks like its thinking- 'I want my mummy and daddy'....
