Sika Deer are strange creatures. They are a lot less timid than most other deer and often behave as if they are curious of people- as here presumably. The stags in the rut look decidedly sinister too.
Yes, I gave the game away with the title, but it is clear they are deer on this one any which it was not on the earlier one - taken from pretty much the same place but the animals must have been a little farther away.
