Mutiny!!!! A sad sight for the 1,000th photo in the Sewerby Gallery, 21st S

The cushion has been placed in a refuse bin! A piece of history cruelly discarded. (I was told where it was on condition I did not salvage it.)

I think you'll have to tell us how it acquired its legendary status now ;)

Really it is just down to its many years of service and the fact that it has looked slightly past its best for some time. Two-and-a-half years ago an ex-Sewerby keeper who had emigrated to Australia in 2006 returned for a visit. On walking into the then zoo office (it was the Head Keeper's weekend off) she exclaimed in excitement/astonishment/horror "he's still got that skanky cushion!" The zoo will not be the same without it.

P.S. I should have said the Head Keeper was on a day off today, so the cushion has been consigned to a bin without his knowledge .

Well I think he is already reconciled to its sad departure, but he may have been denied the chance to say goodbye.

WHAT A 1,000 PICTURES FOR THIS PLACE,WELL DONE ON MAKING THIS PLACE THE MOST OVER PHOTOGRAPHED ZOO,FOR ITS SIZE!!WHEN LESS THAN 100 WOULD BE MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR THE PLACE!!!!!!!!!!

I visited The Jungle Zoo yesterday and took over 400 photographs - I like taking photographs in zoos, and especially recording the happenings at Sewerby. It is not compulsory to view my photos after all! (I look at very few of the places on the UK Gallery, although I think I should broaden my horizons.)

That would depend on your idea of fun!!

Hey,you leave Parrotsandrew alone. If he wants to post 10 photos of someone clearing up leaves then that's his prerogative.:p

I haven't been to Sewerby Zoo since I was a little boy,but it looks a nice little place to spend a couple of hours. Pricing looks spot on at £6-50 for a family of 4. Surprised they haven't got Meerkats like every other zoo/animal attraction in the U.K.

Keep up the good work Andrew.;)
