Mutiny!!!! A sad sight for the 1,000th photo in the Sewerby Gallery, 21st S

The cushion has been placed in a refuse bin! A piece of history cruelly discarded. (I was told where it was on condition I did not salvage it.)
Hey,you leave Parrotsandrew alone. If he wants to post 10 photos of someone clearing up leaves then that's his prerogative.:p

I haven't been to Sewerby Zoo since I was a little boy,but it looks a nice little place to spend a couple of hours. Pricing looks spot on at £6-50 for a family of 4. Surprised they haven't got Meerkats like every other zoo/animal attraction in the U.K.

Keep up the good work Andrew.;)

Thank-you Rob. I am pleased to say that Sewerby will never have Meerkats during the reign of the current Head Keeper who has now served the zoo for 35 years. I was talking to two of the office staff on Sunday and they were in favour of the horrible creatures arriving . Fortunately it will not happen. They did say that recently someone who had booked a Meerkat Encounter at Bridlington Birds of Prey and Animal Park turned up at Sewerby thinking it was there. Zoo staff do get asked the whereabouts of the Meerkats so they have to tell visitors they are a few miles away at the Birds of Prey park.

As someone who will likely never visit the Sewerby Zoo for the simple fact that I live 5000+ miles (i.e., a continent and an ocean) away from it, I really enjoy Andrew's continuing photo essays on what life in a small UK zoo is like. It is a unique contribution to Zoochat.

Thank-you David. I enjoy trying to bring Sewerby to a wider audience.

Is this a rubbish bin or a recycling bin? Some of the waste looks definitely recyclable, but it sounds like the cushion should be in the biohazard bin!

It's one of several bins outside the zoo, I am not sure of the protocol for emptying them and sorting the contents, other than it is performed by another department of the local council. The rain had not done the cushion any favours although admittedly its best days were behind it.

Andrew, is there any news on the cushion saga? Does the head keeper have a new favorite cushion? Is he still mourning the old cushion?

He has a plush new chair now in his new office (with adjoining staff room, showers etc) David, THE cushion was in his old office/zoo staff room (still a desk in there, but mostly used as a feed store). He has not mentioned the old cushion recently - if I remember I shall mention it to him.
