Red-crowned crane release into new pen

I watched as about 8 staff caught a pair of demoiselle cranes and then released a pair of red-crowned cranes. This young pair have been in the duckery for at least 18 months. They are now in the small pen between the otters (the old tump pen) and the Tropical House. This pen has a new rope barrier inside the low wall and the staff were stationed around this wall in case the cranes tried to escape, but they seemed very relaxed. Slimbridge 7th December 2012
