Example of signage

Oh how I laughed.
I would say the Sumatran Tiger and Giant Otter exhibits are the best they have. The baboons are always active and make a good display.

The Tiger/Jaguar enclosures (IMO) "some" of the worst in the UK. To be fair on South Lakes they probably would have been half decent when first built (mid 90's) but since then they have failed to provide regular mantinence and updates that they require to stay looking decent and suitable for the cats... if you take Jordan's picture (in South Lakes gallery) of the Amur female in the indoor dens as an example of my point. Replacing the scratched glass once every few years is hardly going to break the bank

The Giant Otter enclosure looks like something that could be created in the average back garden for very little cost... big pond, cheap wooden fence and the odd plant here and there. Not a terrible enclosure by any means but certinley one that could be greatfully improved with a little bit of cash. We know South Lakes are hardly struggling for money.......

Ps: some suggested new wording for the offending sign...

Lemurs come through the gate at your own cost!

I really am surprised BFF have not tried to lift that photo for an expose of 'The State of Zoos in the UK 2012.' !

Your comments about the Giant Otter exhibit are just the latest in a long line of similar comments I have seen/heard about South lakes from a number of people who have been there- apart from the photos which tell their own story. Hence my total lack of interest in visiting.

As Chlidonias mentioned above in response to JJ's comment about breeding- breeding records really give no indication of the conditions under which the animals are kept.
