Looks like the cats get a decent amount of space outside (the indoor exhibits look horrible, though) but the exhibits are kind of bland. Do the Tigers and Jaguars ever fight through the fence?
Every time I have visited South Lakes, the female Jaguar (Pictured above) has always had an interest in the Tigers next door, the male doesn't however. I'm pretty sure this is down to age as the male is four (?) and the female a bit younger.
Agreed. I'd love to see an Amur Tiger sized up with the Jaguar, though Must be a huge different considering the Sumatran Tiger is the smallest living subspecies.
But these cats are definatley walking in mud, you can see it quite clearly. Many years ago a Zoo I know was asked to provide a concrete apron around the edge of the outdoor Tiger enclosure where the animals paced, as a condition of it passing its Zoo inspection. What happened to those sort of considerations and standards?
