Pygmy Hippo sign

Spot the very simple mistake that has been made on this sign!!!!
if you post the same thing on different threads in response to different posts it kind of negates the impact of whatever it is you're trying to say

I personally look forward to the announcement from the European Parliament that all zoos are henceforth to be closed down thanks to the evidence collected by Born Free from anonymous posters on an internet forum! (There you go yorik, Born Free can use that quote for their cause ;))

Always nice when you drop in yorik. Do come back soon :)

I have heard this in many zoos that the zoo professionals are concerned about how damaging this site is to the zoo community as a whole

Any enterprise, commercial or otherwise, that can't handle criticism from its best customers - which is what ZooChat posters are, being fans of zoos means they go many times more often than the average visitor and have a very good idea what they're paying for, is heading towards oblivion. It is the mark of a pretty poor individual who can't handle being told "sorry, I don't like this".

Criticism is a world away from abuse. And there must be some frighteningly thin-skinned individuals in the UK zoo community if they can't cope with the comments on this forum.

The Internet is open to all. As I said before, Zoos use it all the time for their publicity- Websites, and now Facebook, Twitter etc. So they may find the odd downside too, such as a Forum that discusses them in more depth than they are sometimes comfortable with, and which while largely supporting Zoos, may not always reach the conclusion that everything, everywhere in every zoo, is wonderful.

an you all are experts ..lol .... thats clear... sad to hear the negativity about the fact there are differing views, the reaction here suggests that critisism of the posts and forum is not welcomed... well my view is just firmed up by the responses... sarcastic responses as well as a blind refusal to see the major volume of content is why this forum has lost its respect from me and many others. regards.

Some of the world's leading zoo designers hang out here, as well as marketing folks, keepers, and I'm sure many other pros. You have absolutely no evidence to support your position.

As this is one of my favourite collections for a number of reasons I know some others disagree (e.g. some of the species, okay not all of the enclosures are 'top notch') however I do know some of the members on here are keepers and are very experienced with what they do. A few members on here have also pointed out on other threads that curators/head keepers watch and read over the forums without commenting so they do know what is going on either if it's speculation or something serious, they are experts.

What you say may be true about members , but it is the content that truly concerns me. The word I hear is one that Zoo Chat has lost its position of quality comment it started out with to become the voluntary supplier of information to anti zoo organisations with the help of its thousands of contributors. I do have enough evidence to support that opinion thank you.

yorik, the notion that anti-zoo supporters are stockpiling comments here as support for their positions is like saying that climate change disbelievers are compiling comments on a climate science forum to back up their positions. Any anti-zoo folks compiling "evidence" from this site are incompetent and stupid. They are also basically wrong, which is why their views are not commonly held by the majority of the public and they are ignored except by the media who have news holes to fill. People who make noise fill their "holes" with non-existent "controversy".

I read one of your earlier comments that the primary mission of zoos should be conservation focused, a position that I completely agree with and that we have discussed at lengths in other threads. We have a whole forum about wildlife conservation issues here that is very active. This South Lakes forum seems to really upset you. Come over and join the discussions in the wildlife conservation area if you want something that may be of deeper interest to you.

Yorik you clearly have an obsession with South Lakes. Why are the majority of you posts linked to that establishment? Also, your username is the same as the Alpha male baboon that resides at the park, which again suggests a strong link. I don't know who you are but I don't think you are prepared to listen to any negatives about your beloved park. I like South Lakes but like any other zoo (In my opinion) there are areas that need improving. Every zoo that is discussed on here has points that members feel need improving BUT they also do a lot of things very well. A criticism doesn't mean something is terrible and should be got rid of!

Can you please supply the evidence you have otherwise this comment is worthless.

It is the narrow minded people who post on here with critisism that is unfounded and without foundation that upsets me because it feeds the anti zoo lobby by the plate ful.... it isnt just pro zoo people who are on this site it is full of anti zoo people who are cutting and pasting any negative comment made... this site needs to wake up if it aims to be pro zoo...because it really isnt helping them.
