Chimpanzee exhibit 16th April 2004

I never saw a Chimpanzee in this part of the exhibit. When I visited they were always confined to the small cages to the right of this scene.

The two male chimps were kept separate for many years but were eventually integrated. Whenever I saw them they were usually in, but not confined to, the old cage which, as you say, was connected to the right of this.

Chimps were also kept in the large cage beyond the monkey house where, in later years, snow leopartds were housed.
