Also the easiest access to a shopping complex with the large mall at Cribbs Causeway on the other side of the M5.

Alan

I find the lanes at that roundabout junction very confusing. I have come off the Motorway there so many times when going to the Zoo, but more than once have ended up in the Shopping centre/business park.:o

The place should be, in time, a moneyspinner. It will be interesting to know at what point it begins to impact on the attendances of other nearby collections.

It is a pity really that it will have to compete with Noah's Ark, which to all intents and purposes is a farm that has taken on keeping the largest and most popular zoo animals. Bristol Zoo's 'Wild Place' will be a far superior development in terms of both collection and enclosure quality I am sure, provide it can grow fast enough.

Let's not forget Wild Place's (& Bristol's) tactical advantage (and Noah's Achilles' heel) -they are open on Sundays. :)

Maybe the wild place could have a better open topped enclosure for the lions at Bristol and then Bristol could replace its lions with clouded leopards or jaguars?

I would think another advantage for Wild Place would be its location. Wild Place is more convenient for people travelling from south Wales, the Gloucester \ Stroud area and a large part of Bristol. Noah's ark is more convenient for North Somerset which has a relatively low population, with Weston-Super-Mare and south Bristol being the nearest densely populated areas.

Lions I think are still first choice for most visitors, especially as Bristol nowadays has so few larger mammals. Cloudies are usually very poor showers, though Jags would do okay in that enclosure.

I think maybe if Bristol breed Lions again they could later house some at Wild Place too. Then the two groups could hear each other roaring- at least at night when there's no traffic and its quiet, as apparently the sound travels something like seven miles.:)
